iOS app development services in Poland: costs, process and App Store review

iOS app development services in Poland cover more than Swift code. A real project also needs a backend, testing on iPhones, App Store review and updates after launch. I built the native 2.0 iOS app of Turlo in SwiftUI, so this guide uses that work as its example. Below you get what iOS app development includes, 2026 rates and fees, the process and how App Store review works.

What do iOS app development services in Poland include?

A full iOS app development service takes an idea to the App Store and keeps it running there. In my projects it covers six parts:

  • Scope: the core flow and the screens, agreed before any code.
  • App: Swift and SwiftUI, tested on real iPhones.
  • Backend: the API, database and admin panel behind the app.
  • Testing: TestFlight builds for your team before every release.
  • Release: the App Store listing, screenshots, privacy details and review.
  • Maintenance: new iOS versions, new store rules and small fixes.

Agencies often split these parts between several people. With me, one engineer covers all six, so no detail falls between hand-offs.

SwiftUI in practice: what the Turlo iOS app shows

Turlo is a trip search app I built for a travel-tech client. Its 2.0 iOS app uses Swift and SwiftUI and supports iOS 17 and later. It talks to the backend through Apple’s URLSession and bundles Roboto, the web app’s font, so the app matches the website. The main screens are Start, Home, Results, Offer, Enquiry, Saved, Organizer, and Language and currency. Behind them sits the same API that the web and Android apps use.

Turlo 2.0 offer page in the app: photo gallery with a 1 / 5 counter, trip title, dates and a bottom bar with the price and an Ask about this offer button
The Turlo 2.0 offer page (iOS/Android). Rebuilt from turlo.holiday with live data (Sept 2026); offer photo replaced by a Turlo destination photo.

Three things from this build apply to most iOS app development projects:

  1. Pick a recent minimum iOS version. The Observation framework for SwiftUI state needs iOS 17, and Apple’s figures from 7 June 2026 show iOS 26 on 79% of all iPhones.
  2. Keep every string out of the code. Turlo’s texts live in a String Catalog, so 16 languages need no changes in the views.
  3. Test the release build, not just the debug one. On 22 September 2026 the clean Debug and Release builds of the 2.0 iOS app had 0 errors and 0 code warnings. Its self-test passed 2,323 of 2,323 checks.

How much does iOS app development cost in Poland in 2026?

iOS app development costs start with the rates, multiplied by the hours. Just Join IT’s 2026 salary report puts a senior B2B contractor in Polish IT at a median of PLN 24,260 a month, about PLN 144 net an hour. Devstock (13 August 2026) quotes PLN 180–280 an hour for an experienced freelancer and PLN 150–400 for a software house hour. Neither source breaks out iOS app development, so treat them as general developer rates.

To turn the monthly Just Join IT figure into an hourly rate, I assumed 168 working hours a month. EUR at the NBP mid rate of 9 October 2026 (1 EUR = 4.3775 PLN), rounded. All amounts exclude VAT.

Why the hours matter more than the rate

Your budget is the rate times the hours. For example, 200 hours at PLN 150 cost PLN 30,000, while the same 200 hours at PLN 280 cost PLN 56,000. A senior who needs fewer hours can still be the cheaper choice. Therefore, ask every bidder for hours per screen and per feature, not only a day rate.

Apple adds its own fees to iOS app development. The Apple Developer Program costs $99 a year. If the app sells digital goods, Apple also takes a commission: 15% under the Small Business Program, for developers with up to $1 million in yearly proceeds.

I don’t publish one fixed price for an iOS app, because scope decides it. After the proof of concept, I quote the build stage by stage. For web and Android as well, see my guide to full app budgets.

From first call to TestFlight: the iOS app development process

My projects run in five steps:

  1. A call about scope. We agree the core flow, the users and what the first version leaves out.
  2. Proof of concept, 2–4 weeks. One core flow runs on your real data, for PLN 10,000–25,000 net.
  3. Staged build with TestFlight. Each stage ends with a TestFlight build. Up to 100 members of your team can test it, and up to 10,000 external testers once Apple approves the first beta build.
  4. Release. The App Store listing, screenshots, privacy details and the review itself.
  5. Maintenance. New iOS versions, new SDK rules and fixes, for PLN 1,000–2,000 net a month.

We agree code ownership, documentation and handover in the contract before work starts.

App Store review: timelines and common rejections

Apple says App Review typically handles at least 50% of submissions in under 24 hours and 90% in under 48 hours. In practice, plan for one rejection, because a fix and a second review can cost another day or two. Apple last updated the App Store Review Guidelines on 8 June 2026.

According to Apple, over 40% of unresolved issues fall under guideline 2.1, App Completeness: crashes, placeholder content and missing information. Other common reasons to check before you submit:

  • No demo account. If the app has a login, reviewers need a working account, and the backend must stay live during review.
  • No account deletion. An app that lets people create an account must also let them delete it inside the app.
  • Too little app. Guideline 4.2 rejects apps that feel like a repackaged website.
  • Privacy gaps. You need a privacy policy link, a support link and a clear reason for every camera, location or photo request.
  • Screenshots that don’t match. Store screenshots must show the app as it really works.

What makes review easier

Fewer sign-in features mean fewer review questions. Turlo’s traveller side has no accounts at all, and saved trips stay on the device. In addition, write clear review notes. Apple rejects generic descriptions of new features, so name each change in plain words.

16 languages with String Catalogs

Apple’s String Catalogs keep the strings of an app, their translations and their plural forms in one place. Turlo’s iOS app uses one for all 16 languages. However, nobody types those translations in Xcode. A Python script generates them from the web app’s translation files, 792 keys per language, so the web, iOS and Android apps share one wording.

In iOS app development, the store listing needs the same care. Turlo’s 2.0 store screenshots exist in 16 languages for iPhone and iPad, with five slides each. That is 160 images for the iPhone and iPad alone.

A universal link is a normal https address that opens your app when it is on the phone and your website when it is not. It needs a two-way link between the app and the domain: a file on the website and an entitlement in the app. Turlo uses universal links on turlo.holiday plus a custom turlo:// scheme for offer pages. Every link a user shares is the offer’s normal web address.

Apple’s documentation also warns that universal links are a way into your app. So validate every URL parameter and drop malformed links. Old app versions matter here too: installed 1.x apps of Turlo still talk to a frozen v1 API, while the 2.0 apps use v2. As a result, the backend can change without breaking apps already installed.

Native Swift or cross-platform: when native pays off

In iOS app development, native Swift pays off when the app leans on Apple’s platform. Think of universal links, widgets, Apple Pay, on-device AI or a design that must feel at home on iOS. Since iOS 26, for example, the Foundation Models framework gives apps an on-device language model. A shared codebase makes sense when both apps show the same simple screens. Flutter, React Native and Compose Multiplatform, stable on iOS since May 2025, all fit that case.

Turlo went native on both sides: about 16,700 lines of Swift and 17,000 of Kotlin in October 2026, on one shared API and one set of strings. For what else changed this year, see my 2026 trends.

How to choose an iOS app development partner in Poland

Ask five questions before you sign an iOS app development contract:

  1. Who writes the Swift code, and will you talk to that person?
  2. Is the Apple Developer account in your company’s name? For an organization, Apple asks for a D-U-N-S Number.
  3. Where does the code live, and who can access it?
  4. How do you test before release: TestFlight, automated tests, real devices?
  5. What happens to installed versions when the API changes?

Good answers are specific and come with examples. For agencies, freelancers and one-person studios side by side, read how to choose a partner. If you are still comparing countries, see Poland vs other countries.

FAQ — iOS app development in Poland

How long does App Store review take? Apple says it typically reviews at least 50% of submissions in under 24 hours and 90% in under 48 hours. Leave room for one rejection and a resubmission in your launch plan.

What do I need from Apple before launch? You need a membership in the Apple Developer Program, which costs $99 a year. As a company, you also need a D-U-N-S Number, a legal entity and a public website on your own domain.

Which iOS versions should my app support? Most new apps can start at iOS 17 or later, as Turlo does. Apple’s own figures from 7 June 2026 show iOS 26 on 79% of all iPhones and on 86% of iPhones from the last four years.

Do you build the Android version too? Yes. Turlo’s Android app uses Jetpack Compose and Material 3 on the same API and strings as the iOS app.

What changes in iOS app development every year? Apple raises the minimum Xcode version for uploads. Since 28 April 2026, every upload must use Xcode 26 or later. New iOS versions also change APIs and design rules, so plan some maintenance every year.

Conclusion: iOS app development in Poland, step by step

In short, good iOS app development in Poland starts small and stays specific: a proof of concept, staged TestFlight builds, a review-ready release and steady maintenance. At RS Mobile I built the native 2.0 iOS app of Turlo in SwiftUI, on the same API and strings as its web and Android apps.
